House of Commons Transport Select Committee has severely criticised car insurers for farming details of innocent policy holders out to lawyers and credit hire companies who then tout for business. Car insurers have been raking in seriously large sums of money in commissions, while the policy holders are bombarded with telephone calls pressurising them to make claims against the third party. So, one insurer gets the commissions and the other has to pay out extra money to pay for inflated claims. All this going on while the ABI (Association of British Insurers) bangs the drum non-stop about the rise in credit hire and injury claims – which their own members are causing!
