The Watford Observer recently reported that an accident involving a young boy being thrown from his father’s motorcycle could lead a compensation payout of around £300, 000.
The 12 year old Nathan Atkins who comes from Hertfordshire was riding on the back of his father’s motorbike when a Ford Fiesta apparently drove into its path, causing Nathan to be thrown from the pillion seat.
He was rushed to hospital in London – first to the Royal London Hospital and then he was transferred to King’s College Hospital – and received treatment for his head injuries. He spent three weeks in hospital in all, undergoing treatment in a specialised paediatric unit.
The driver of the Ford Fiesta has been charged with driving without due care and attention and pleaded guilty, leading to them incurring a fine and four penalty points.
The Atkins family have made a compensation claim against the driver and judging by the nature of their son’s injuries a sum of around £300,000 is expected.
