In normal circumstances you should not move any of the vehicles involved in a road traffic accident. However, if they are causing an obstruction or if necessary, you should take photographs (with a mobile phone if necessary) or ask an independent witness to verify vehicle positions.
You should exchange details with any other drivers or parties involved in the accident. As a minimum these should include name and address, insurance if available and the registration number, make and colour of their vehicle. It is a good idea to draw a little diagram to show where each vehicle was.
Make a note of any passengers in the other vehicles. Names and addresses are all that is required.
You should also take pictures of any skid marks, and the roadside to confirm exactly where the accident took place.
Make a note of the exact time, and the road and weather conditions.
If the incident was a no fault car or motorcycle accident you should consider the benefits offered by Vamco to pursue a no fault car accident claim. You are not obliged to refer the claim to your own insurance company for handling.
